MANHATTAN, KAN. -Â Select members of the Kansas Track and Field team will travel to Manhattan, Kan. to take on the Ward Haylett Invitational in the last meet of the regular season.Â
The event kicks off from Manhattan with field events starting at 1:30 PM CT, with running events to follow, getting underway at 4:40 PM CT.
Senior
Alyson Moore will be running in both the 1500m & 3000m. Moore recently ran a PR in the 1500m at the Kansas Relays with a time of 4:42.05. Moore will be competing in her fifth meet of the outdoor season, and her last before the Big 12 conference meet.
Senior
Jake Freidel is also among the list of Jayhawks competing this weekend. Freidel has jumped over five meters in back-to-back appearances, with a 5.06-meter mark at the Rock Chalk Classic and a 5.05-meter mark at the Desert Heat Classic.Â
Three Jayhawks will run in the 800-meter event this weekend in Manhattan.
Nathan Thengvall, Marcus Freeman, and
Garrett Wilmes will take to the track on Friday. Thengvall recently ran a 1:54.13 at the Desert Heat Classic last weekend and will look to improve on his mark heading into the postseason.
Ryan Whittlesey and
Gabe Birkmeier will both run in the 3000-meter steeplechase as their last race of the regular season. In Birkmeier's last outing, he won the steeplechase at the Rock Chalk Classic with a time of 9:37.53. Whittlesey also ran in the Rock Chalk Classic and took third, with a personal record time of 9:47.42.
