LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Kansas Jayhawks are bound for Waco, Texas, to face the No. 16-ranked Baylor Bears on Sunday afternoon at Foster Pavilion.

Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. CT and the game will be broadcast on ESPN+, with Lincoln Rose (play-by-play) and Jordan Lewis (analyst) on the call. Fans can also listen on the Jayhawk Radio Network from Learfield, with Steven Davis calling the action.

Kansas heads to Waco with a record of 11-5 (1-3 Big 12) after dropping a 62-59 contest to Utah on Wednesday evening. That setback came following KU's first conference win, an 83-68 victory at UCF on Jan. 4.

No. 16 Baylor becomes the second ranked opponent that Kansas has faced this season, both coming in league play. The Jayhawks opened the Big 12 season at No. 10 Iowa State on Dec. 21, falling 79-76 on a buzzer beating three-pointer.

Freshman forward
Jaliya Davis was named the Big 12 Freshman of the Week Monday following back-to-back 20-point performances in the first two games of 2026. She followed up the honor with another 20-point effort, going for 20 points and four rebounds against Utah.

Baylor improved to 14-3 (3-1 Big 12) with a 56-52 victory over Colorado Thursday night at Foster Pavilion. The Bears have won three-straight games since falling 61-60 to Texas Tech in the conference opener on Dec. 21. Sunday's matchup features two of the top three scorers in the Big 12 in KU's
S'Mya Nichols (19.3 points per game) and Baylor's Taliah Scott (20.4 ppg).

Kansas is 3-1 in true road games this season and 1-1 in league play following the win at UCF. The Jayhawks are facing Baylor at Foster Pavilion for the second time after dropping a 69-61 contest on Feb. 21, 2024. KU heads to Waco looking for a road win over the Bears for the first time since 2000.

Nichols had 19 points, five rebounds, five assists and four steals against Utah. She was 2-of-4 from the free throw line to maintain her lead nationally in both free throws made (115) and attempted (138) this season. Nichols continues her pursuit of KU's all-time free throw record, sitting at 499 for her career. The only name ahead of Nichols on the list is legendary Jayhawk Lynette Woodard, who made 505 in her career.

Davis has scored at least 10 points in all six games she's played in, including 20+ points in each of the past three games. Since returning from injury on Jan. 1 vs. West Virginia, Davis is averaging 22.3 points and 5.3 rebounds per game, while shooting 67.6 percent (25-37) from the field.

Senior guard
Elle Evans knocked down 2-of-5 three-pointers against Utah, and she's now made multiple threes four times in the past five games. Evans is second in the nation in three-point accuracy, shooting 51.3 percent (39-76) from long range, and she's one of just three players nationally shooting better than 50 percent from three for the year. Evans has hit 218 career three-pointers, ranking No. 21 among active Division I players.

Lilly Meister had eight points and six rebounds vs. Utah after erupting for a career-high 22 points in the win at UCF. Meister has scored in double figures seven times this season, averaging 9.8 points per game while leading the Jayhawks with 7.1 rebounds per contest.
