LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Kansas women's tennis team was ranked eighth in the 2026 Big 12 Conference Preseason Poll as voted on by league coaches, the conference announced Tuesday.
Oklahoma State was picked first in the Poll, receiving 14 first-place votes, while UCF, Arizona State, Texas Tech and Baylor finished out the top-five.
Kansas is coming off the 2025 season in which the Jayhawks finished with a 14-12 record, including a 6-8 record against ranked opponents. Kansas was selected to its 14th NCAA Tournament appearance in program history but fell to South Carolina in the first round.
The Jayhawks return multiple experienced players, including 2025 All-Big 12 honorees Heike Janse van Vuuren and Kyoka Kubo. Kubo earned ITA All-American this past fall reaching the quarterfinals of the NCAA Championship.
Kansas also returns Yerkezhan Arystanbekova, Meriem Ben Ezzedine, Simryn Jacob, and Anna Putilina, while welcoming newcomers Sandugash Kenzhibayeva, Meg McCarty, Kinley VanPelt, and Nahyeong Cho. The Jayhawks are led by head coach
Todd Chapman, who enters his 13th season as the Jayhawks' head coach.
Kansas will open its 2026 season by hosting the Jayhawk Invitational from January 15-17 at the Jayhawk Tennis Center. KU will also host four additional non-conference home duals against Creighton, Kansas City, Nebraska and Clemson. For a complete 2026 tennis schedule, click here.
