VERO BEACH, Fla. - No. 19 Kansas men's golf faces a quick turnaround for its next event, the Quail Valley Invitational, which will be played Sunday-Monday, Oct. 18-19 at Quail Valley Golf Club.
The 16-team field is hosted by USF, with Maryland, FAU, Rutgers, Marquette, Liberty, Florida, Florida Gulf Coast, Michigan State, Nebraska, Minnesota, Northern Illinois, Memphis, UNC-Greensboro and Penn State joining the Jayhawks.
"Quail Valley is another good event on a solid golf course that we have played on in the past, so we're quite familiar," Kansas head coach
Jamie Bermel said. "There's rain in the forecast, so we need to get off to a good start as it could be a 36-hole event."
The Jayhawks will sport the same lineup that saw action at Big 12 Match Play earlier this week, sending
Arthur Carlier,
Hartej Grewal, Nicolas Vidal-Reig,
Noah Holtzman,
Will Baker and
Max Jelinek to Florida.
Carlier and Vidal-Reig both went undefeated in Big 12 match play in Salt Lake City, each winning three of four matches and drawing one. Last time in tournament play, Carlier finished tied for eighth at the Windon Memorial Classic, while Vidal-Reig tallied nine birdies and an eagle in a tie for 43rd.
Baker tied in three of his four Big 12 match play clashes but tallied one win by defeating TCU's Toby Wilt. His last tournament outing, also at the Windon Memorial, ended in an even-par tie for 15th.
Grewal and Holtzman each posted one win, two loss outings in match play. During tournament play at the Windon Memorial, Grewal was the one to lead Kansas with a -4, fourth place finish that helped guide the Jayhawks to a team victory. Holtzman finished his last tournament in a tie for 50th but carded 10 birdies throughout the event.
Jelinek split his two matches in Utah, and last competed in tournament play at the Folds of Honor Collegiate where he finished in a tie for 46th.
