LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas tennis begins Big 12 Conference play this weekend with ranked matches against No. 23 Texas Tech at 4 p.m. CT on Friday, February 27, and No. 74 Colorado at 12 p.m. CT on Sunday, March 1. Both matches will be played at the Jayhawk Tennis Center.Â
The Jayhawks come into the match with a 4-5 record after defeating No. 53 Minnesota on February 20 and falling to Old Dominion on February 22 in Lawrence. Texas Tech enters the weekend with a 9-3 record after defeating No. 37 Iowa 4-2 on February 21. Colorado is 8-2 on the season and coming off a 7-0 win over Utah Tech on February 21.
Kansas features multiple ranked players in this weeks' ITA rankings. Kyoka Kubo is ranked at No. 36 in singles after starting the season 5-3. Kubo joins Heike Janse van Vuuren in the doubles rankings, as they are ranked No. 72. The duo is 4-1 on the season.Â
The Jayhawks also boast multiple positive records, as Meg McCarty is currently 4-2 in singles play, while van Vuuren sits at 4-3. Yerkezhan Arystanbekova has improved to 4-3 on the season having won two straight matches.Â
