FORT WORTH, Texas – Kansas baseball fell 9-4 to No. 17 TCU in a non-conference matchup at Lupton Stadium. The game was suspended on Tuesday evening with one out in the top of the ninth inning and TCU leading 9-2 when inclement weather moved into the area. TCU recorded the final two outs on Wednesday to finish the game.
Â
Carter Fink started on the mound for Kansas and went 1.2 innings, allowing three runs but only one earned run. Manning West, Kannon Carr and Daniel Lopez all had scoreless relief outings.Â

QUOTABLES & NOTABLES
"Baseball is a goofy sport where we've got all kinds of continuation rules and suspended games. Yesterday, there was weather early in the day. TCU didn't feel like we had a window early to play, so we stuck with the original start time. Then, we had a suspended game. Prior to the game, you have to call it at the plate meeting. Looking at the weather, I think the concern was that we get an hour and 15 minutes into a game, get lightning, and you're in the third inning and you want to be able to finish today. There is no way of reversing that once you've done it at the plate meeting, so once we got deep into the game it was still in a suspended game status if it were to not be completed." – Head Coach Dan Fitzgerald
Â
"Obviously, love the fact that we scored runs in the ninth. I hate the fact that we were not great offensively up to that. We continue to hit balls hard, but that gets old talking about because we need to do it more consistently. The more you do it, the more they drop. I thought, obviously, the fourth inning killed us and the grand slam was not how it was mapped out. This game is hard, but you make it harder on yourself sometimes by not executing the plan." – Head Coach Dan Fitzgerald
Â
• The game did not count as a conference game.
• Mungarrieta recorded his fourth multi-hit game of the season.
