Kansas improved to 29-11 overall and 14-4 in conference play. It's the best Big 12 start for Kansas in program history. With four weekends remaining in the season, Kansas sits in first place in the Big 12 standings with a two-game lead on second place West Virginia.
Â
The Jayhawks recorded their 19th come-from-behind victory of the season on Sunday. KU was trailing at three different points in the game, but a grand slam by Dariel Osoria in the fifth inning turned a 4-2 deficit into a 6-4 Jayhawks lead. KU never looked back from that point.
Â
The pitching staff was able to hold that lead for the remainder of the game. Riane Ritter threw three innings of relief and allowed only one run while striking out a season-high seven Cowboys. Ritter had a stretch where he struck out five consecutive hitters. Then, Boede Rahe came into the game and finished it off with 2.1 innings of relief and five strikeouts for his fifth save of the season. Ritter received the win to move to 5-1 on the season.
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Oklahoma State (24-16, 8-10 Big 12) got an early first inning lead with an RBI groundout.
• The Jayhawks matched that run in the top of the second inning. After loading the bases, Dylan Schlotterback drew a walk to tie the game at 1-1.
• The Cowboys broke that tie in the bottom of the third on a leadoff solo home run by Danny Wallace. The home run gave the Cowboys a 2-1 advantage.
• OSU stretched its lead in the fourth on a two-out, two-run single from Alex Conover. That made it a 4-1 Oklahoma State lead.
• Kansas answered back with five runs in the top of the fifth. Jordan Bach led off the inning with a triple and Cade Baldridge drove him in on an RBI groundout. The Jayhawks then put together a two-out rally and loaded the bases for Osoria. He took an 0-1 pitch the opposite way to right field for a grand slam. That gave Kansas its first lead of the day at 6-4.
• Oklahoma State cut it to a one-run game in the seventh on a two-out RBI double by Campbell Smithwick.
• KU got the run back in the top of the eighth on a sacrifice fly from Augusto Mungarrieta. Midway through the eighth, Kansas led 7-5.
• The Jayhawks added two insurance runs in the ninth inning on a two-run double by Bach. That stretched the Kansas lead to 9-5.
• The Pokes got one more run in the bottom of the ninth to close out the scoring at 9-6.

QUOTABLES & NOTABLES
"Huge series win against a really good Oklahoma State team. They have a really dynamic offense that we were able to pitch really well to for the last two games, Obviously, they flexed their offense in game one, but I'm really proud of how the guys responded. Especially how we pitched. I thought Dom was fantastic, but then today to get the effort we got out of our bullpen was fantastic. Great series win." – Head Coach Dan Fitzgerald
Â
"Early on it was my slider working and then it changed. They kept missing my fastball. I wouldn't say give credit to one pitch. It was just mixing speeds and pitches in the right spots. Pounding the zone with all of my pitches." – Riane Ritter
