Â
Kansas has now reached the 30-win plateau in three consecutive seasons for the first time since 2008-10. The Jayhawks have won 14 of their last 15 games and are 30-11 overall this season. Tuesday's win marked the 20th comeback victory for the team this season.
Â
Kansas trailed at multiple times in the game, but the Jayhawks used three separate three-run innings to ultimately win the game. Trailing 4-3 going into the bottom of the sixth, Tyson Owens and Josh Dykhoff each hit home runs to put the Jayhawks ahead 6-4. Then, in the seventh Augusto Mungarrieta hit a two-run homer to stretch the lead.
Â
Toby Scheidt shined on the mound as he threw a season-high 3.1 scoreless innings. He recorded a career-high five strikeouts and also faced a career-high 14 batters. Scheidt earned the win on Tuesday. Rahe came in to close out the game on the mound and pitched two scoreless frames for his sixth save of the season.
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Nebraska (31-10) got on the board first with a two-out RBI single in the second inning.
• Kansas answered back with three runs in the bottom of the second to take the lead. Owens hit a two-run double down the right field put the Jayhawks ahead. The Jayhawks tacked on one more run on a Dykhoff RBI groundout.
• The Huskers were able to respond in the top of the third with three runs of their own. Two RBI singles and a sacrifice fly made it a 4-3 Nebraska lead.
• Scheidt shut down the Nebraska offense for the next three innings.
• In the bottom of the sixth, the Kansas offense jumped on Nebraska for another three-run inning. Owens hit a 419-foot game-tying bomb to knot the game at 4-4. Two batters later, Dykhoff broke that tie with a go-ahead, two-run homer through the teeth of the wind to right field. Kansas led 6-4 at the end of the sixth.
• The Jayhawks poured on three more runs in the bottom of the seventh on an RBI triple from Tyson LeBlanc and a two-run homer by Mungarrieta. That made it a 9-4 Kansas lead.
• Nebraska climbed back in the game with three runs in the eighth inning to make it 9-7.
• KU was able to close it out in the ninth with Rahe striking out the final two batters of the game.

QUOTABLES & NOTABLES
"That was an unbelievable experience. They are absolutely bonkers. I've been a part of so many incredible environments and so blessed in my career to play in some of the coolest places in college baseball, and I've never played in an environment like that. The constant cheering at the end of the game, it felt like it was third down and the Hawks were on the field and they were helping us make a defensive stand. That was absolutely incredible. It's the greatest student section in college baseball. Speechless at how amazing they are." – Head Coach Dan Fitzgerald
Â
"They prepare really well, they stick to the process and when you do that, you're able to actually play nine innings. You don't have to score it all at once because you know there's a process in which to go about it. We did a nice job in chunks of getting the leadoff guy on, and do some good things getting them on base. Missed some opportunities, got to clean some stuff up, but obviously a great win." – Head Coach Dan Fitzgerald
Â
"The crowd was unbelievable. Amazing, unbelievable. There's no words for it. It's crazy, it's amazing. I'm good buddies with Jackson Hauge and he told me it's a different kind of crowd, it's a different student section at KU." – Josh Dykhoff
Â
"It was amazing. All the energy from our crowd, it was awesome. I've been thinking about playing in front of a crowd like that since I was little, so it was awesome. A lot of our home games, we get out to an early lead and then there's a little lull. There was no lull today, we were in it the whole game." – Toby Scheidt
Â
"It was great. Having a crowd like that is such a home field advantage for us and I think going forward we need that every single game, especially with the series coming up. Our dugout is huge. They play such a big part for us. I don't think they get enough credit for what they do for us every game. I think that energy, we just build off of it on the field, and it helps us win close games like that." – Tyson Owens
