
Kansas Secures Win at the Hoosier Collegiate

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Kansas men's golf team won the Hoosier Collegiate Invitational at The Pfau Golf Course with a three-round score of 872 (+20).
This marks Kansas' first tournament win on the season and the team's fifth top three finish this year.
"Great team win today. The conditions were not ideal, but I was really proud of the way we battled all weekend," Kansas coach Jamie Bermel said. "This is the reason why we practice and compete. Winning is always hard and the conditions made it even harder today. Great day to be a Jayhawk."Â
Kansas (+20) was followed by Illinois (+23), Purdue (+28), Little Rock (+36), Maryland (+42) and Minnesota (+42) to round out the top five.
Senior Luke Honner led the way for the Jayhawks throughout the tournament and finished with scores of 69-73-72 (+1) and tied for second place. Honner's second-place finish marks his best as a Jayhawk and his first top five finish of the season. Honner put together his eighth round under-par on the season in the opening round on Saturday with a bogey-free 69 (-2).Â
Freshman Arthur Carlier scored rounds of 74-70-73 (+4) and tied for sixth place individually. Carlier recorded his fourth career top 10 finish and tallied his 14th round under par on the season. Carlier carded nine birdies throughout the tournament.
Senior Will King finished in 14th place with scores of 75-70-74 (+6), marking his sixth top 20 finish of the season and 21st of his career. King carded nine birdies throughout the tournament.Â
Junior Will Baker finished the tournament with scores of 74-74-76 (+11) and tied for 25th place individually.
Sophomore Hartej Grewal shot rounds of 73-75-80 (+15) and tied for 42nd place individually.Â
Junior Noah Holtzman competed as an individual and finished with scores of 80-72-81 (+20) and tied for 67th place.

The Jayhawks will travel to Hutchinson, Kansas, to compete in the Big 12 Championship at Prairie Dunes Country Club from April 27-29.Â
