HUTCHINSON, Kan. – The Kansas Jayhawks placed fifth after 72-holes at the 2026 Big 12 Men's Golf Championship, which concluded on Wednesday at Prairie Dunes Country Club. The Jayhawks finished at 10-over par for the tournament with a team stroke total of 1,130.Â
"Prairie Dunes is a championship golf course, and you really have to control your ball,"Â Kansas coach Jamie Bermel said Wednesday after the final round. "I thought Will King just picked the course apart all week. Will Baker had another nice week and so did Arthur Carlier. Luke Honner didn't have a good second round but played really solid the last two rounds."
Oklahoma State won the tournament with a four-round score of 1,110 (-10), followed by Arizona (-2), TCU (-1), Texas Tech (+9), and Kansas (+10) to round out the top five.
As a team, Kansas put together its best round of the tournament during Tuesday's third round. The Jayhawks were tied for eighth place after 36 holes of action on Monday before carding a historic round to move back into contention. Kansas recorded a team total of 12-under par with 268 strokes on Wednesday, which is tied for the second-lowest single round score at the Big 12 Championship. The mark matched the total of 2019 Oklahoma State and was one shot shy of 2026 OSU's second round from Monday, which is the new tournament record. Kansas' 268 (-12) is also the lowest third-round score in Big 12 Championship History. The round helped Kansas climb three spots on the team leaderboard, and the Jayhawks entered Wednesday's final round in fifth.Â
Senior Will King led the way for the Jayhawks and finished with scores of 69-69-65-73 (-4) and tied for fourth place individually. King was the only Jayhawk to receive All-Big 12 Tournament Team honors, with his finish inside the top 10. King carded 11 birdies and three eagles throughout the event.
"We hung in there today,"Â Bermel added. "We didn't know if Will King was going to be able to play today due to an injury. He clearly wasn't at his best today, but he was able to battle for 18 holes and tied for fourth."Â
Junior Will Baker tied for 19th place after carding scores of 77-68-67-71 (+3) throughout the tournament. Baker tallied his sixth top 20 finish of the season, and his eighth round in the 60s this year.
Freshman Arthur Carlier tied for 42nd place after shooting rounds of 74-76-68-71 (+9). Carlier recorded his 15th round under-par on his career, while tallying 11 birdies and one eagle during the tournament.Â
Senior Luke Honner scored rounds of 73-79-68-72 (+12) and tied for 54th individually. Honner recorded his ninth round under-par on the season, and tallied five birdies during the tournament.
Sophomore Hartej Grewal finished the tournament with scores of 73-73-72-77 (+15) and tied for 59th individually. Grewal carded 10 birdies throughout the event.Â
"Great team effort,"Â Bermel said. "I thought we got better as the week went on."
