BAYONNE, N.J. — The Kansas men's golf team is set to open their 2026-27 season at the New York Harbor Cup in Bayonne, New Jersey at the Bayonne Golf Course. The Jayhawks will compete in two days of action, beginning on Monday, August 31.
The nine-team field is hosted by Rutgers, with West Virginia, Little Rock, Marquette, South Florida, Michigan State, Purdue, and Kansas rounding out the rest of the field.
KU head coach Jamie Bermel enters his 15th season with the Jayhawks, and his team is coming off a season in which they competed in the NCAA Regionals for a school-record 10th consecutive time. Coach Bermel and the Jayhawks finished tied for 11th last season at the NCAA Athens Regional.
Bermel will travel to New York with a lineup of senior Will Baker, juniors Ty Lasley and Hartej Grewal and sophomore Arthur Carlier, along with a pair of newcomers in freshmen Nicolas Vidal Reig and Brady Rapp.
"Excited to get the season started. We had a very competitive three round qualifier and I think the guys are ready to compete." Coach Bermel said. "This is a new event so we don't know much about the golf course, but it looks good."
Baker is entering his second season for Kansas, after competing in 11 events last season and carried a stroke average of 71.1 over 33 rounds. Baker recorded three top five finishes, six top 20 finishes, and 13 rounds in the 60's during his junior season campaign.
Lasley enters his third year with the program after competing in seven events for the Jayhawks last season. Lasley carried a scoring average of 71.8 over 21 rounds and recorded four rounds in the 60's.
Grewal enters his second season with the Jayhawks, after recording two top five finishes and four top 10 finishes. Grewal competed in 12 events last season and carried a scoring average of 71.4 over 36 rounds.
Carlier enters his sophomore season after competing in all 13 events for the Jayhawks last season. Carlier carried a stroke average of 71.3 over 39 rounds while recording four top 10 finishes, six top 20 finishes, and nine rounds in the 60's.
Vidal Reig and Rapp are set to make their Kansas debuts in their first collegiate tournament. Vidal Reig signed with the team in March, while Rapp signed in November.
