LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas track and field was represented by senior
Anthony Meacham as the Big 12 Conference's sixth men's Athletes of the Week of the outdoor season, the conference office announced Wednesday.
Meacham won his second event of the outdoor season at the John McDonnell Invitational this past weekend, clearing 5.80 meters (19-0.25 ft.) to tie his personal best. Meacham cleared the bar on his first attempt and currently holds the top clearance in the country. The clearance made him the outdoor school record holder in the event and continued his streak of high marks.
To close the indoor season, he won the Big 12 indoor pole vault title with a, then personal best, 5.65 meters clearance before placing sixth nationally with a 5.70 meters vault, earning first team All-America honors. He then opened the outdoors season with a personal best 5.80 meters height at the LSU Battle on the Bayou before clearing 5.70 meters at the Beach Invitational and 5.80 meters again this past weekend.
Meacham's clearance this weekend made him the 11th athlete in collegiate history to record both an indoor and outdoor mark over 19 feet. The Big 12 Outdoor Athlete of the Week honors are the second of his career, winning the award in week three this season on April 7th. He has won two Big 12 Championships in his career, bringing home the crown during the 2026 indoor and 2024 outdoor season, while also finishing third and fourth in 2024 and 2025. The 2026 First Team All-America honors were the first of his career.
Kansas track and field will be at home this weekend, competing in the Rock Chalk Classic on May 1-2 at Rock Chalk Park.
