LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Kansas softball was represented by three Jayhawks on the NFCA Division I All-Region Teams, the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) announced on Thursday, including catcher
Ella Boyer and shortstop
Hailey Cripe on the second team and outfielder
Presley Limbaugh on the third team.
The honors come after the Jayhawks were selected into the 2026 NCAA Softball Tournament for the first time since the 2015 season and the 13
th appearance overall. The Jayhawks enter the NCAA Tournament with a 35-19 record (14-10 Big 12), marking the most wins in a season since 2015. Kansas set program records for home runs (81), runs (361), doubles (94) and RBIs (342), among other statistical achievements.
The All-Region honors are the first for Boyer and Limbaugh, while Cripe was named NFCA All-Region Third Team in 2025. Boyer is currently a finalist for the NFCA Division I Freshman of the Year, comprised of the Top-10 Freshman across the country.
Boyer, Cripe and Limbaugh also earned All-Big 12 recognition with Boyer being named the unanimous Big 12 Freshman of the Year, First Team All-Big 12 and Freshman All-Big 12, while Cripe was named the Big 12 Co-Defensive Player of the Year and was named to the All-Big 12 Defensive Team. Limbaugh earned spots on the Second Team All-Big 12 and the All-Big 12 Defensive Team.
A catcher from Spring, Texas, Boyer has had one of the best freshman seasons in Kansas softball history. Her 18 home runs are tied for fifth in the Big 12, breaking a Kansas single-season freshman record and is just four away from the all-time single-season record of 22. Boyer also currently leads Kansas in RBIs (57), OPS (1.245), slugging percentage (.774), walks (35) and on-base percentage (.471).Â
Cripe, a senior infielder from Royal Center, Indiana, has proved to be one of the best defensive players in the country. Starting every game for Kansas at shortstop this season, Cripe has made just four errors on 103 assists and 85 putouts on 194 total chances. At the plate, Cripe has set career highs in batting average (.348), slugging percentage (.714), runs (48), hits (56), home runs (15) and RBIs (47), among others.
A senior outfielder from Cooper, Texas, Limbaugh has provided a leadoff spark for Kansas all season. Limbaugh leads the team in batting average (.388) and stolen bases (13). She also has a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage in center field with 82 putouts and one assist on 83 chances.
The Jayhawks will take on the Michigan Wolverines in the first round of the Norman regional on Friday, May 15, at 5 p.m. CT from Love's Field on ESPNU. More information on the NCAA Softball Tournament
