"[The guys] have stuck together," head coach
Dan Fitzgerald said. "This is an incredibly selfless team. They really care about each other, and they put each other ahead of their own needs as well as any team I've ever been around."
Kansas (37-12, 20-4 Big 12) is in first place in the Big 12 standings with a four-game lead ahead of West Virginia and Arizona State. The 20 conference victories match the program record that was set in 2025. Kansas is the first Big 12 team with 20 conference wins in back-to-back seasons since Nebraska in 2000 and 2001.
The Jayhawks have won seven consecutive conference series after a sweep of Arizona last weekend. Kansas has gone a perfect 12-0 in Big 12 home games this season. That marks the longest Big 12 home winning streak for Kansas in program history. The Jayhawks have won eight straight Big 12 games and 20 of the last 22 conference contests.
KU has the most overall wins of any Big 12 team this season. The Jayhawks are winners of 10 of the last 11 games, 21 of the last 23 and 27 of their last 31 contests. Kansas is one of four teams nationally to have multiple double-digit winning streaks this season.
Kansas is ranked No. 7 in the Top 25 this week by D1Baseball, No. 8 by The Athletic and No. 9 by Baseball America, USA Today and the NCBWA. The No. 7 ranking is the highest in school history.
No. 15 West Virginia (32-12, 16-8 Big 12) is having another great year after a record breaking 2025 season. The Mountaineers are ranked No. 15 by D1Baseball and No. 18 by Baseball America. WVU has won four straight games, including a sweep of Kansas State last weekend. This season, West Virginia has a potent offense that is hitting .308 with 145 extra-base hits, while the pitching staff has posted a 4.16 ERA, the lowest in the conference.

[DOM]INATE PERFORMANCE
Dominic Voegele was named the Big 12 Co-Pitcher of the Week on Monday. Voegele tossed his first career complete game on Friday night in KU's 4-2 win against Arizona. He allowed six hits and two runs while matching his career high with 15 strikeouts, a mark he previously set 13 days prior on April 18 at Oklahoma State.
Voegele retired the final 10 batters he faced and 14 of the last 15, which concluded with two strikeouts in the ninth inning. Voegele has now recorded double-digit strikeouts five times in his career and he's the only Division I pitcher with at least 15 strikeouts in multiple games this season. He is also one of just three pitchers nationally to throw a nine-inning complete game with 15 or more strikeouts this season.
SERIES HISTORY
Kansas and West Virginia have met 39 times dating back to 2013, with West Virginia holding a 22-17 advantage in the all-time series. Kansas ended the regular season last year with a three-game sweep of No. 14 West Virginia in Morgantown. The three-game sweep on the road against a Top 25 team was the first for KU since 2003. The sweep concluded a regular season which Kansas had its most regular season wins ever and its most conference wins in school history.
UP NEXT
Kansas will travel to Provo, Utah, for the final weekend of the regular season against the BYU Cougars. The three-game series is set to begin on Thursday, May 14.
