LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas volleyball recorded its fifth straight sweep with a win over the Ole Miss Rebels on Friday night, winning 25-19, 25-22 and 25-13.

Freshman outside hitter Taylor Stanley led the Kansas offense with 18 kills while hitting .519 and tallying three aces. Alongside Stanley, Grace Nelson tallied a season-best 15 kills with seven digs and two aces.

Aisha Aiono and Reese Messer each recorded a trio of blocks and Messer led the team with 42 assists. Olivia Hasbrook anchored the back row with seven digs and three aces.

The Jayhawks wasted no time with a big swing by Stanley for an early 1-0 lead followed by a block by Messer and Reese Ptacek to extend the advantage to 4-1. Ole Miss responded to tie it 8-8 and the two teams traded points before a block out of the middle by Aiono retook a 13-12 lead for the Jayhawks.

Grace Nelson tallied an ace from the service line for a 16-14 advantage out of the break before Hasbrook led a 3-0 run from the service line for a 19-16 lead. The Jayhawks earned the 25-19 victory a few points later on an Ole Miss attack error.

Ole Miss took an early 3-1 lead to start the second set but Stanley found the floor on an assist from Hasbrook to tie it 3-3. Both teams went back and forth through much of the second set, with the Rebels capitalizing on Jayhawk miscues.

Kansas earned a 15-12 advantage at the break but Ole Miss was able to tie the set 16-16. The Jayhawks went on a a 3-0 run with Stanley at the service line to force a Rebel timeout. The Rebels responded with four straight points to tie it 20-20. Ptacek led from the service line for the final points of the set before Aiono closed out the 25-22 win.

Logan Bell's kill opened the third set, and a flying back-row attack from Nelson made it 2-0. Stanley's kill put the Jayhawks up 6-4, and a block from Aiono and Stanley made it 8-5. Back-to-back Nelson kills pushed the lead to 11-7 and forced an Ole Miss timeout. Ptacek's kill made it 13-8, and Nelson's work from the left side helped Kansas take a 15-10 lead into the media timeout.

Nelson then won a joust at the net to make it 18-10. Back-to-back points from Aiono stretched the lead to 23-12, and Hasbrook's service ace ended it at 25-13.

The Jayhawks will face Grand Canyon on Sunday at 2 p.m. CT in Horejsi Family Volleyball Arena.
