Tori Wilson Announced as Kansas’ Head Cheer Coach

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas Athletics announced today the addition of Tori Wilson as the Jayhawks' new head cheer coach, bringing years of experience as a coach, program director and gym owner.
Wilson arrives in Lawrence after serving as the owner of Firegem Cheer Academy in Greenville, S.C., and Firegem of Anderson, two all-star cheer gyms where she oversaw athlete development, staff leadership, and program growth.
"I am beyond excited and incredibly honored to be joining the University of Kansas as the head cheer coach," Wilson said. "This opportunity means so much to me, and I am truly grateful for the chance to lead such a talented and driven group of athletes and to represent the Jayhawk community. I'm passionate about building a team that is confident, connected, hardworking, and proud of what they're building together. I'm ready to bring a lot of energy, intention, and heart to this program, and I can't wait to get to work. Rock Chalk!"
Wilson previously served as the head coach for three college cheer programs, including University of South Carolina Upstate (2019-20), Missouri Valley College (2016-19) and University of the Ozarks (2014-16).
Wilson led her teams to NAIA Conference Championships, Regional Championships and a National Championship in 2018 while at Missouri Valley College. Wilson was also named the 2018 NAIA National Coach of the Year.
Wilson graduated from Iowa State University in 2014, where she majored in accounting.
