LAWRENCE, KAN. - No. 9 Kansas Volleyball continues their conference slate on Wednesday night, as the Jayhawks will take on the Iowa State Cyclones inside Horejsi Family Volleyball Arena, with first serve being set for 6:30 p.m and the broadcast being televised on Fox Sports 1.
Â
"Iowa State is a program that over the years has consistently demonstrated a competitive presence," said Kansas Head Coach Ray Bechard. "We've had some outstanding matches with them in recent years, and I don't think this go-around will be any different."
Kansas comes into the midweek match with the Cyclones flying high, as the Jayhawks have rattled off seven wins in a row since the start of Big 12 play, including four sweeps throughout that seven-game stretch. Kansas is 7-0 in conference play and currently stands alone atop the Big 12.Â
Iowa State heads into Wednesday night with a 3-3 record within conference play, highlighted by wins over West Virginia, Cincinnati, and most recently, Texas Tech. Iowa State also grabbed a crucial win in their non-conference slate, topping in-state rival Iowa in four sets.Â
Kansas and Iowa State have met on the volleyball court a total of 94 times, making Wednesday's match the 95th get-together between the two old Big 8 rivals. The Cyclones hold the edge over Kansas in the all-time series 54-40, but the two schools have split the last 10 matchups. Kansas holds a slight edge over Iowa State when matches are played in Lawrence, as Kansas leads that all-time series 27-21.
