Kansas Wraps Up Hawkeye Invite with 6th Place Finish

IOWA CITY, Iowa – Kansas Swimming and Diving claimed a sixth-place finish at the three-day Hawkeye Invite, held at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center.
The Jayhawks posted seven lifetime-best performances, with standout efforts from Mia Waldron and Eleni Kotzamanis, who each recorded two personal bests during the final day of competition.
Kansas had two swimmers and one diver advance to the championship finals in their events, while five others competed in the consolation finals. The team finished the meet with 809 points.
The action began at 10 a.m. with preliminary rounds, where Kansas saw strong performances that propelled several athletes into the finals. Advancing to the championship finals were Hailey Farrell (200 Fly), Bradie Ward (200 Back), and Lize van Leeuwen (Platform Diving). Additionally, Caroline Blake (100 Free), Brigid Gwidt (200 Fly), Anna Gearhart (200 Fly), Lezli Sisung (200 Back), and Shiyun Lai (Platform Diving) earned spots in the consolation finals.
In the championship finals, Farrell secured seventh place in the 200 Fly with a time of 2:03.83. Ward followed with an eighth-place finish in the 200 Back, clocking in at 2:01.29. Diver Van Leeuwen rounded out Kansas' championship finalists with an eighth-place finish, earning a score of 202.85.
