At what age did you start swimming and how did you get into the sport?
8 years old. The pool I was a member at growing up had a summer league, and I’ve been doing it ever since.
What routines do you practice before a big race to help you focus and stay ready?
I usually smack my arms and legs/deep breathing/jump around.
What is something that someone wouldn't know about you?
I was home schooled from first grade until my sophomore year of high school.
What sport would you play if you did not swim and why?
I’m not very coordinated, but I’ll go with soccer because I played that a little bit growing up.
What advice would you give to young athletes who are just starting out in swimming?
Make sure that you’re always having fun. It’s important to work hard, but always make sure you love what you’re doing.
Who is a role model in your life that pushed you to be better in and out of the pool?
My mom. She is a strong woman in everything she does.
Why did you choose the University of Kansas?
During COVID, my opportunities to go on official visits of school got canceled. I still had calls with Coach Clark and Jen, and it was almost a “shot in the dark” because I had never met the team. It was the best decision I could’ve made.
