LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas senior tight end Jared Casey is one of a record 111 players from the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) who have been named to the Allstate Wuerffel Trophy Watch List for the 2024 season.

The watch list was announced Thursday by the Wuerffel Foundation, a nonprofit company with a mission to inspire greater service and unity in our communities. Announced recently, the Wuerffel Foundation partnered with Allstate to unify college football's highest community service honors. Eleven of the Watch List nominees will also be named to the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Allstate Wuerffel Trophy, which honors student-athletes who are inspired to serve other and make positive impacts on society. A member of the National College Football Awards Association, The Allstate Wuerffel Trophy is college football's premier award for community service and is presented annual to the FBS player who best combines exemplary community service with leadership achievement on and off the field.

Casey has appeared in 35 games as a Jayhawk, making 15 starts at tight end. He burst into the spotlight in 2021 as a redshirt-freshman as he hauled in the game-winning two-point conversion in KU's 57-56 overtime victory at Texas. Since then, Casey has been a valued blocker and a reliable pass catcher for the Jayhawks, totaling 35 receptions for 432 yards and eight touchdowns in his career.

A native of Plainville, Kansas, Casey is a two-time Collegiate Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team selection. Last season he was nominated for the Burlsworth Trophy, which is presented annually to the most outstanding player in FBS football who began his career as a walk-on. Additionally, Casey is an active participant in community service efforts for the Jayhawks, who compiled 466 hours as a team during the summer of 2024.

The Allstate Wuerffel Trophy is named after Danny Wuerffel, the 1996 Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback from the University of Florida who parlayed his success on the football field into a lifetime of service. It embodies Danny's commitment to being a humanitarian, while honoring student-athletes who are inspired to serve others and make positive impacts on society.

The 2024 Allstate Wuerffel Trophy finalists and recipient will be selected by an illustrious national voting committee, including a fan vote component, and announced on ESPN's Home Depot College Football Awards Show on December 12. The award presentation will take place on February 1, 2025, at the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta.
