LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas women's golf incoming sophomore
Lyla Louderbaugh is set to compete at the 124th U.S. Women's Amateur at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma, August 5-11.
The U.S. Amateur is a week-long event that showcases the top women amateur golfers in the country. The event consists of two stroke play rounds on Aug. 5-6, held at Southern Hills CC. With a field of more than 150 golfers, the top 64 scores will advance to the match play tournament on Aug. 7-11, concluding with a 36-hole championship match to decide a winner.
From Buffalo, Missouri, Louderbaugh fired off a four-under 68 at Eagle Bend Golf Course in Lawrence to win the final qualifying event and punch her ticket to the U.S. Amateur. After hitting the turn at +1, Louderbaugh shot -5 on the back nine to cap off her 68.
"I am grateful for the opportunity to compete in the U.S. Women's Amateur at Southern Hills," Louderbaugh said. "I am excited to put my hard work to the test in one of the biggest tournaments of my life and represent KU while doing so."
Louderbaugh is set for an opening-round tee time of 7:15 a.m. (Central) on Monday, Aug. 5, starting on the 10th tee. Louderbaugh's second round will be played on Tuesday, Aug. 6 at 12:15 p.m., starting on the first tee.
