BOULDER CITY, Nev. - Kansas women's golf claimed its second win of the fall season on Tuesday, shooting a program record 817 (-47) across 54 holes en route to an eight-stroke victory over second-place Boise State in the Clash at Boulder Creek. Â
The Jayhawks set program records for 18-hole score (-21) and 36-hole score (-32) alongside the 54-hole record.
"We finished really strong again today, especially the last nine holes. The wind came up in the last few holes which made it an exciting finish," Kansas head coach
Lindsay Kuhle said. "I am really proud of our freshman who came back with a blistering 65 and really helped the team get the victory."
"This was a total team effort, and everyone contributed this week with low scores. I'm really proud of their composure, confidence and competitiveness this week," Kuhle added.
Junior
Ebba Nordstedt led Kansas to the victory, claiming her second-career individual win with a 200-shot (-16) performance. Her three-round score is the second lowest in program history.
"We are really proud of Ebba today for shooting 66 and winning by three for her second victory," Kuhle said. "It's awesome to see her play with great confidence and ball striking on point this week."
The team victory is the 21st of Kuhle's career, and the 10th of her tenure at Kansas.Â
Houston (-24), California Baptist (-16) and Utah Tech (-15) joined Kansas and Boise State in the top five.Â
Nordstedt caught fire from the opening tee in round one, posting a 67 (-5) in the opening 18 holes that included six birdies and left her tied for seventh. She repeated the performance in round two with a second 67, putting her one shot back of the outright lead. Nordstedt would claim the lead in the final round with a 66 (-6), finishing three shots clear of second place finisher Leia Chung of Boise State.Â
