Jayhawks Finish Eighth at Golfweek Red Sky Classic

WOLCOTT, Colo. - Kansas women's golf finished eighth at its second event of the season, the Golfweek Red Sky Classic, Sept. 21-23. Played at the Red Sky Golf Club in Wolcott, Colorado, the Jayhawks shot 291-283-278 (-12), eight strokes behind seventh-place Arizona. Senior Lyla Louderbaugh led the way for Kansas, posting a 74-66-66 (-10) that left her tied for 10th.

"We really finished strong today and had a great 10-under par round. Lyla led the way again with the 66 and then Hannah Hall with the 69, Kinslea Jones with the 71 and Anna Wallin 72 again," Kansas head coach Lindsay Kuhle said. "Overall team effort, we had all five players in it today, and I feel like we always play our best when we have that."

Kuhle added, "Really proud of how we competed to the very end and made a charge, making a few birdies at the end."

Southern California (-47) finished atop the leaderboard, 14 strokes ahead of second-place Miami (-33). Pepperdine (-32), Texas A&M (-32) and LSU (-31) rounded out the top five.

After a 74 (+2) on day one, back-to-back 66 (-6) outings from Louderbaugh left her at -10, the lowest score submitted by a Jayhawk this season. Louderbaugh recorded 17 birdies throughout the three days of competition, including seven in the third round.

Ebba Nordstedt added her first under-par performance of the season, shooting a 71 (-1) on each of the first two days of the event. Nordstedt would end the week tied for 47th at even par.

Kinslea Jones, Anna Wallin and Hannah Hall would all finish within one of each other at the Red Sky, with Jones leading the three. Her 71 (-1) on day three of the tournament marked her lowest round of the event, tallying six birdies and finishing in a tie for 51st.

Just behind Jones at +2 was Wallin, who notched a pair of even-par rounds on the first and third days of the tournament. Rounds one and three are tied for her second-lowest round of the season thus far, contributing to her finish in a tie for 54th.

Tied Wallin was Hall, who posted a 69 (-3) on day three to finish join Wallin tied for 54th. Her -3 was Hall's second lowest round of the season, one behind her -4 day two at the Folds of Honor.

Marieke Ebens played as an individual at the Red Sky, tallying a five-birdie 71 (-1) on day three to finish tied for 86th at +10.

"We look forward to hosting our tournament in a couple of weeks, and will be working hard on our wedges, short game and putting to prepare," Kuhle said.
