"We are so very excited to host again at Lawrence Country Club for the fourth consecutive year. It's always so much fun to host in your backyard at your home course in front of family, friends, KU staff, supporters and professors representing KU," Kansas head coach
Lindsay Kuhle said. "We've had a really great week of practice on the course and feel confident in our game plan, ball striking and short game to attack this course with the mentality that we can go now."
Â
Kansas will host a 14-team field comprised of New Mexico, San Francisco, Delaware, St. Thomas, Omaha, Creighton, Middle Tennessee, Northern Iowa, UC Davis, Central Arkansas, Longwood and California. There will be two Kansas teams as all 10 Jayhawks on the roster will be competing.

Â
"Lyla, Anna, and Hannah have had low rounds for us this season with 66 and 68s the last two events and I feel that it's a very doable feat again on the course with the conditions," Kuhle said. "With the rain we received the last week, the course will not have much run out, will play longer and green speeds might not be as fast as they've been in the past. We're excited for the test and to defend our title at home."

ABOUT MARILYNN SMITH
Marilynn Smith was one of the original 13 founders of the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) in 1950 and is a charter member of the organization. A three-time President of the LPGA, Smith's influential career as a professional golfer and leader helped pave the way for future women amateurs.
Â
Smith won 22 times on the LPGA tour, including the 1963 Titleholders, one of the major women's events at the time, in an 18-hole playoff over Mickey Wright. Before creating the LPGA tour, Smith won the Kansas Women's Amateur Championship three times (1946-47-48).
Â
She arrived on the Kansas golf scene from Wichita. A 1951 KU graduate, Smith's two-year career at Kansas was highlighted by a 1949 National Collegiate Individual title. Following the title, Smith accepted an offer from Spaulding to turn pro at $5,000 a year. From 1954-72, she won at least one tour event in 14 of 19 years.
Â
Smith's contributions and honors include serving as the two-year president of the organization she helped found. She was the first-ever female television commentator for a men's professional golf tournament in 1973. In 1979, Smith received the inaugural Patty Berg Award for distinguished service to women's golf. Golf Digest presented her the LPGA Founders Cup for charitable service off the course in 1983. She was selected as one of the Distinguished Champions of the Vincent T. Lombardi Tournament in 1987. The award recognized leadership in sports and demonstration of high ideals of public good. Smith was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame under the Lifetime Achievement category.
