LAWRENCE, Kan. - The Kansas Track and Field team secured their third-consecutive KU-KSU-WSU Triangular title on Friday afternoon in Manhattan, Kansas.
This marks the Jayhawks' sixth meet victory in the history of the Triangular, and Kansas surpassed last year's points total of 245.5 with this year's total of 254. The women's team emerged victorious with 129 points, while the men's team finished a close second with 125 points.
Women's Highlights:
- Lillian Harris claimed first place in the 60m dash (7.58, PB), while Deshana Skeete set a meet record in the 200m (23.68).
- Emmaculate Jemutai dominated the distance events, winning both the 800m (2:10.96) and mile (4:51.29). She was the female high points scorer with a total of 14 points.
- Mason Meinershagen led the high jump (1.75m, SB) and took the pole vault title (4.25m, meet record).
- Pearl Awanya captured the 600-yard title (1:21.85), and Kenadi Krueger secured gold in the 3000m (9:46.62).
- In the triple jump, Kori Randle landed a personal best (12.75m) for the win.
Men's Highlights:
- Tanner Talley ran an impressive mile (4:01.75, facility record), leading a 1-2-3-4-5 Kansas sweep.
- TJ Robinson secured first place in the 1000m (2:23.13), while Michael Joseph finished a close second in the 600-yard (1:09.56).
- Clayton Simms soared to 17-9 (5.41m) in pole vault, securing the win and setting a new facility record. The men's vaulters went 1-6, with Bryce Barkdull taking second place and Anthony Meacham taking third, both at 5.31m.
- Tayton Klein dominated the long jump with a mark of 7.42m (24-4¼), and Dillion Peters took first in the triple jump (14.76m, PB).
- In the 60m dash, Aaron Merritt claimed victory with a personal best of 6.82.
Up next, certain Jayhawks will head to the Thane Baker Invitational tomorrow, Saturday, Jan. 18, which is also hosted by K-State. The meet will kick off at 10:30am in Manhattan, Kansas.
