
Jayhawks Finish in Fourth at the Bryson Invitational

DANIEL ISLAND, S.C. – The Kansas men's golf team finished in fourth place in the Bryson Invitational, played on Oct. 13-15 at Ralston Creek Golf Course. The Jayhawks finished with scores of 280-279-283 (-22) en route to their second top five finish of the season.Â
Vanderbilt led the way with a score of 834 (-30), followed by Wake Forest (-23), Duke (-23), Kansas (-22) and South Carolina (-13), who rounded out the top five.
"We hung in there today and the guys gave great effort, we beat a lot of good teams. Total team effort, especially from Hartej and Arthur who played well today, with Luke and Will putting up good scores." Kansas coach Jamie Bermel said, "We need to tighten some things up for our next event and finish these last two tournaments strong."Â
Sophomore Hartej Grewal led the way for Kansas and finished with scores of 71-69-68 (-8). Grewal finished all three rounds under par for the first time this season, while also carding 15 birdies throughout the rounds. Grewal took his second top 10 finish in back-to-back tournaments with a sixth-place finish.Â
Senior Will King finished with scores of 70-66-73 (-7) and tied for seventh place individually. This marks King's second top 10 finish of the season, and the fifth of his career. King's round two score of a 66 (-6) gives him his lowest 18-hole score of the season, in a round where he carded seven birdies.
Freshman Arthur Carlier secured two rounds under par during the tournament and finished with scores of 68-75-70 (-3). Carlier carded 13 birdies and tied for 21st place individually.Â
Senior Luke Honner put together a consistent tournament and shot scores of 71-72-72 (-1) and tied for 29th place individually.
Sophomore Ty Lasley carded 10 birdies in the tournament and finished the event with scores of 77-72-74 (+7). Lasley finished in a tie for 73rd place individually.
Junior Will Baker competed as an individual during the event and scored rounds of 75-74-70 (+3). Baker's best round was on the final day where he carded three birdies and one eagle. Baker finished tied for 51st place individually. Â

The Kansas men's golf team is set to travel to Vero Beach, Florida, to compete in the Quail Valley Invitational at the Quail Valley Golf Course from Oct. 19-20.Â
