The Jayhawks (11-7, 2-2 Big 12) are coming off a challenging weekend on the road that featured back-to-back matches against ranked opponents. Kansas opened the trip with a hard-fought 3-1 loss at No. 12 TCU before bouncing back with a signature 3-2 victory over No. 15 Baylor in Waco.
"I'm proud of our response against Baylor," said head coach
Matt Ulmer. "We're hopeful we can be more consistent in our mindset and execution this week. It feels great to be back home, and we're ready to compete against two more quality opponents in Texas Tech and Iowa State."
The win over the Bears marked Kansas' first triumph this season over a higher-ranked opponent in the AVCA Poll and its first five-set victory of the year. The Jayhawks recorded a season-high 17.5 blocks and leaned on standout performances from
Jovana Zelenovic and
Reese Ptacek in the win. Zelenovic finished with 16 kills and six blocks, while Ptacek added 14 kills and a season-high nine block assists.
