LAWRENCE, Kan. – The No. 16 Kansas volleyball team travels to Nashville this week for the LUV Invitational and a pair of matches against Lipscomb and Florida State.
The Jayhawks face Lipscomb on Thursday, Sept. 3 at 6 p.m. CT followed by a match against Florida State on Friday, Sept. 4 at 3 p.m. CT.
Kansas enters the weekend 0-2 following a pair of four-set battles at the Opening Spike Classic. On Aug. 28
, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Kansas battled No. 4 Pittsburgh and 2025 AVCA Player of the Year Olivia Babcock, falling in four sets. Two days later, KU took on No. 5 Stanford to four sets before falling 3-1.
Through the first two matches, freshman
Taylor Stanley led the offense and has averaged 4.50 kills per set on a .232 hitting percentage, while adding 1.38 digs per set. Pin-hitters
Kenzie Dean and
Grace Nelson anchored the offensive effort with Dean averaging 2.25 kills per set on a .208 clip and Nelson posting 2.00 kills per set while hitting .190.
Reese Ptacek has contributed 2.00 kills and 0.88 blocks per set, giving Kansas consistency at the net. At setter,
Reese Messer averaged 8.88 assists and 2.88 digs per set.
