LAWRENCE, Kan.— Kansas women's golfer
Lyla Louderbaugh was announced Thursday as the Missouri 2025 Women's Player of the Year by the Missouri Golf Association.
"This is an incredible honor for Lyla to win this award two years in a row. It shows the amazing summer that Lyla had." Kansas coach Linsday Kuhle said. "I think this is a testament to her hard work and her competitiveness that she had all summer. I'm super proud that she is a Jayhawk and represents Kansas so well."
A junior from Buffalo, Missouri, Louderbaugh claims the Women's Player of the Year for the second consecutive year after tying for the award last season. This is Louderbaugh's first solo Women's Player of the Year recognition. She is receiving this award after her tie for third place at the Missouri Women's Amateur Championship at Dalhousie Golf Club in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Louderbaugh went on to reach the semifinals of the U.S. Women's Amateur Championship, one of the most highly regarded events in women's amateur golf.
To start her junior season, Louderbaugh is carrying a scoring average of 73.2 over 15 rounds. She has recorded four top 20 finishes, two top 10 finishes, and two finishes inside the top five. Louderbaugh has also recorded one round in the 60's and has a low 54-hole score of 213 (-3).
Louderbaugh and the Kansas women's golf team is done with fall competition, and the Jayhawks will return to action Feb. 1-3 at the Therese Hession Regional Challenge in Palos Verdes Estates, California.
