Kansas senior golfer
Lyla Louderbaugh will compete in the 2026 U.S. Women's Amateur, August 4-9, at The Honors Course in Ooltewah, Tennessee. Louderbaugh is one of 79 exempted players in the 156-golfer field. She earned the exemption by advancing to the semifinals of the 2025 U.S. Women's Amateur last August at Brandon Dunes Golf Resort in Bandon, Oregon.
This will be the third time Louderbaugh will have competed in the U.S. Women's Amateur as in 2024 at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa she finished tied for 45th and lost in the first round of match play.
For the upcoming U.S. Women's Amateur, on August 4 and 5, the 156 competitors will play 18 holes stroke play each day. The low 64 scorers after 36 holes of stroke play will advance to match play. The first round of the match play will be on Thursday, August 6. The match play rounds of 32 and 16 will be played Friday, August 7, with the quarterfinals and semifinals on Saturday, August 8. The aforementioned match play rounds will consist of 18 holes each round. The championship match, which will be 36 holes, will be played on Sunday, August 9.
Louderbaugh is scheduled to play her first round on Tuesday, August 4 at 1:15 p.m. (Central), starting on Hole 10. Her second round is scheduled for Wednesday, August 5 at 8:15 a.m. (Central) on Hole 1.
Last year at Bandon Dunes, Louderbaugh tied for fourth in stroke play shooting a two round 7-under 137. The Buffalo, Missouri native then won four match play rounds to advance to the semifinals, falling to eventual runner-up Brooke Bierman in 19 holes.
Heading into her senior season, Louderbaugh has had a stellar collegiate career in which she has won two tournaments, including the 2025 NCAA Columbus Region helping Kansas advance to the NCAA Championship. As a junior in 2025-26, Louderbaugh won the Yale Invitational in May 2026, recorded four top five finishes and placed in the top 20 eight times.
