LAWRENCE, Kan. – Fresh off its ninth straight season-opening victory, the Kansas Jayhawks return to action on Sunday, Nov. 9, hosting Northwestern State.
Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. CT and the game will be broadcast on ESPN+ with Leif Lisec (play-by-play) and
Wayne Simien (analyst) on the call. Fans can also listen to the game on the Jayhawk Radio Network from Learfield, with Steven Davis and David Lawrence calling the action.
Kansas tipped off the 2025-26 season with a 74-64 victory over Kansas City on Wednesday evening at Allen Fieldhouse. Junior guard
S'Mya Nichols and sophomore forward
Regan Williams combined for 39 points to lead the Jayhawks in the win.
Nichols paced the Jayhawks with 21 points, seven assists and four rebounds, while Williams added 18 points and eight rebounds off the bench.
Jaliya Davis had 10 points and four rebounds in her Kansas debut, which was limited to 16 minutes of action by foul trouble.
Kansas was picked sixth in the preseason Big 12 coaches poll. KU returns each of its top six scorers and 92.5 percent of the overall scoring from last season, while adding the No. 7 recruiting class in the country, highlighted by Davis.

Elle Evans were joined in the starting lineup by three newcomers in Davis, freshman guard
Libby Fandel and senior forward
Lilly Meister. Fandel had two points and four assists in her collegiate debut while Meister, a transfer from Indiana, was productive in the post with eight points and a team-high nine rebounds.
Nichols climbed two places on KU's all-time scoring list during the Kansas City game. With 21 points in the contest, Nichols now has 1,086 career points, which surpassed Jennifer Jackson (1997-2001) and Natalie Knight (2011-15) as she moved to No. 28 on the career scoring list.
Williams came off the bench in the opener after starting 24-of-30 games as a freshman. She made an instant impact, finishing two points away from her career high with 18 points on 8-of-12 shooting from the field. Williams hit her only three-point attempt vs. Kansas City, matching her total for made three-pointers from her freshman season.
Davis reached double figures in her first official collegiate game after scoring 29 points with eight rebounds in KU's 90-59 exhibition win over Fort Hays State on Oct. 29. Davis is the first McDonald's All-American to sign with Kansas out of high school since 2003.
Following its season-opening win over Kansas City, Kansas has now won 34 consecutive non-conference home games at Allen Fieldhouse, dating back to December 2020.
Northwestern State comes to Lawrence with a 1-1 record following a 55-42 victory at Wichita State on Thursday night. The Lady Demons are led by sophomore forward Vernell Atamah, who is averaging 22.5 points per game following a 25-point effort at WSU. Sunday's matchup will be the fourth all-time between Kansas and Northwestern State, with KU holding a 2-1 advantage. The two teams also played last season, with Kansas claiming an 88-46 victory over the Lady Demons on Nov. 8, 2024.
