DALLAS – Kansas baseball junior pitcher
Dalton Smith was named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Stopper of the Year Preseason Watch List, the organization announced on Wednesday.

A transfer from Kansas City Kansas Community College, Smith went 4-1 with a 4.93 ERA in 38.1 innings with 26 walks and 40 strikeouts and three saves in 30 career appearances, with three of those being starts.

The Raymore, Missouri, native finished his 2024 campaign with a record of 3-1 and a 2.19 ERA. He tosses 24.2 innings and recorded 27 strikeouts. He also had three saves in his 18 appearances.
Smith has been ranked the No. 87 relief pitcher in the country for 2025 by D1Baseball. He is one of 27 newcomers on the 2025 roster.
