Â
Kansas sent 14 batters to the plate in the ninth inning, every guy in the lineup reached base safely at least once and the nine runs were the most in an inning all season. A grand slam by Tyson LeBlanc and a two-run homer by Augusto Mungarrieta sealed the win for the Jayhawks.
Â
Dominic Voegele started on the mound and went seven innings and struck out six. He allowed four runs on seven hits and only walked one. Voegele retired a stretch of eight consecutive batters and 11 of 12 Bearcats.
Â
Kansas improved to 18-10 overall this season and 6-3 in Big 12 play.
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Cincinnati (20-10, 4-5 Big 12) took an early first inning lead. Jack Natili hit a two-out RBI single to give the Bearcats a 1-0 lead.
• Kansas reversed that lead in the top of the second inning. With a runner on and two outs, Josh Dykhoff crushed a two-run homer to put the Jayhawks ahead 2-1.
• The Bearcats had an answer in the bottom of the third inning with a pair of run-scoring hits to go back ahead 3-2.
• The Jayhawks evened the game at 3-3 with an RBI groundout from Dariel Osoria in the fourth inning.
• KU grabbed the lead again in the fifth on a sacrifice fly by Tyson LeBlanc. The Jayhawks led 4-3 midway through the game.
• The Bearcats tied the game at 4-4 in the bottom of the seventh on an RBI triple off the bat of Jackson Smith.
• In the ninth inning, the Kansas offense scored nine runs on eight hits. Dylan Schlotterback had two RBI singles and Cade Baldridge drew a walk with the bases loaded. The other runs in the inning came from LeBlanc's grand slam and Mungarrieta's two-run homer. That made it a 13-4 Kansas advantage.
• Cincinnati pushed two runs across in the bottom of the ninth to finish the game at 13-6.

QUOTABLES & NOTABLES
"I thought Dom was awesome and he was he was so efficient. He was in the strike zone all day with one walk and six punches. Really all weekend we did such a nice job of not giving them stuff. With the exception of some baserunning mistakes on Friday night and then a couple random outfield mistakes today, we didn't give them anything. Part of that is Dom and Mathis were just so good in the strike zone against a really, really elite offense. The significance of the series win is that this is against an elite team and about as well coached of a team as you can play against. Loved how the guys fought through some of the adversity and stayed in it. Then, loved how we got to the ninth and just poured it on and gave ourselves a big cushion to comfortably closing out." – Head Coach Dan Fitzgerald
Â
"I'm seeing the ball well right now. Our pitching staff is doing great. They're keeping us in games and the offense has caught fire lately. We're playing complete baseball right now. I know Friday it didn't go our way. We kind of slipped up a little bit, but the past two and a half weekends of Big 12 play we have played phenomenal baseball. That's what it's going to take for us to do what we want to do." – Tyson LeBlanc
Â
"It's just the same thing every day. I just have to play my role. If you get on for the top of our lineup, any given day they can go deep. It's just playing your role and being a guy that can get on base every time for them. I think we're finally figuring out who we are. We're just finding our way to play the game." – Josh Dykhoff
Â
"I felt like everything was working pretty good today. We came in with a pretty good game plan off the first two games and I felt like we executed it pretty well. It's awesome whenever we get support on the mound [from the offense]. We know our guys are going to swing it every game and behind us." – Dominic Voegele
