LAWRENCE, Kan. - The Kansas Track & Field team will compete in the Steve Miller Invite on Friday, February 7 in Manhattan, Kansas.Â
The Jayhawks are sending 40 men and 33 women for the day-long event, with their first event, women's long jump, kicking off at 2 p.m. Running events will get underway at 2:35 p.m. with the women's 200m, where four different Jayhawks are slated to compete.Â
The invite sections on the track will begin at 6:25 p.m., starting with the women's 400m invite, and the men's will follow shortly after.Â
Some Jayhawks to keep an eye on include
Grant Lockwood, who's making his 600y debut. Lockwood set the school record last year in the Big 12 Indoor Championships, then broke his own record to win Big 12's the following day. Other Jayhawks running the 600 include Nick Quinn,
Prophet Basden Jr. and
Jordan Campbell.
On the women's side,
Mason Meinershagen will be hitting the pole vault runway once again after breaking the indoor women's pole vault school record at Mizzou last weekend. The sophomore out of St. Louis, Mo. jumped 4.47m, which is the No. 6 mark in the nation. She joins the rest of the Kansas pole vault women as the No. 2 event squad in the country as the USTFCCCA announced their rankings on Tuesday afternoon.Â
Freshman
Madeleine Fey will get in the shot put ring for the Jayhawks this weekend, looking for a breakout indoor performance. Fey will be one of three total female throwers competing for the Jayhawks in Manhattan.Â
