
Jayhawks Drop 4-2 Match to Baylor on Sunday

LAWRENCE, Kan. - Kansas fell to the No. 23 Baylor Bears, 4-2, at the Jayhawk Tennis Center in Sunday matinee action.
Kansas falls to 10-8 (4-4 Big 12) on the season, while Baylor improves to 15-3 (6-2 Big 12).
Kansas jumped out to an early 1-0 lead after securing the doubles point behind a tremendous performance by Gracie Mulville and Heike Janse van Vuuren who took down No. 24 Christina Tiglea and Liubov Kostenko, 6-0, in the number one slot. The duo improves to 11-5 on the year and an even 3-3 in conference.
Jasmine Adams and Yerkezhan Arystanbekova clinched the Jayhawk point with a 6-3 win on court two to move to 5-1 in the season, while Kyoka Kybo and Anna Putiina's No. 3 singles match went unfinished, as the pair trailed 4-5. Kansas improved to 12-6 in doubles points on the year.
In singles action, Mulville extended KU's lead to 2-0 with a sound 6-4, 6-2 victory as the No. 67 player in the country is now 11-5 on the season and 5-3 in Big 12 play.
Baylor came back with three straight wins to flip the advantage, 3-2, in favor of the Bears. Van Vuuren dropped her No. 4 singles match, 6-2, 6-3, to No. 87 ranked Na Dong, while Anna Putilina fell 6-4, 6-1 on court six and Maria Titova lost 6-2, 6-4 in the No. 3 slot.
Despite a commanding 6-1 start by Kubo in No. 3 singles, Zuzanna Kubacha rallied 7-6 (1) in game two to force a tiebreaker set. The match went unfinished as Arystanbekova was defeated on court five by a twin score of 6-4, 6-4, as Baylor went on to take it 4-2.

The Jayhawks return to the road for its next three matches, beginning with a stint in Utah, with matches against the Utes starting at 1 p.m. CT on Thursday, before facing BYU on Saturday at 12 p.m. KU will head to Ames, Iowa, to take on the Iowa State Cyclones on April 5.
