LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas softball (15-12, 3-3 Big 12) is set to host Texas Tech (24-9, 5-1 Big 12) at Arrocha Ballpark from March 28-30, with the series opener on Friday at 5 p.m. CT. Texas Tech enters the series ranked No. 21 in the latest NCAA RPI standings.
Kansas enters the series after a quick turnaround following a game at Missouri, a standalone midweek contest. The Jayhawks secured the win 3-0 for their first win over Missouri since 2022. Junior
Hailey Cripe's three-run homer in the first inning provided all the offense Kansas needed, while freshman pitcher
Kaelee Washington delivered a stellar complete-game shutout. Washington allowed just four hits, struck out three, and leaned on a strong defensive performance behind her to keep Missouri off the board.
At the plate, junior
Presley Limbaugh leads the Jayhawks with a .409 batting average, 36 hits, eight doubles, and two triples. Junior
Aynslee Linduff has also been a consistent force, hitting .375 with 33 hits, 14 RBIs, and 20 runs scored. Cripe adds power with four home runs and 22 RBIs, while senior
Olivia Bruno remains a dual-threat with a .343 average, five home runs, and 19 RBIs.
On the mound, Washington has stepped up in a big way, posting a 3.06 ERA with 32 strikeouts over 50.1 innings pitched. She isn't the only freshman making an impact—
Kennedy Diggs has also been a key contributor in the pitching rotation, recording a 2.04 ERA across 24 innings. Diggs has earned four wins this season, the most of any pitcher on the Jayhawks' staff.
Riding the momentum from their win over Missouri, Kansas faces a tough test against a strong Texas Tech team that is 5-1 in Big 12 play after sweeping Baylor in three games March 7-9. The Red Raiders went 1-2 at No. 10/11 South Carolina, March 21-23, in their last action. The Kansas series will be Texas Tech's ninth-straight game on the road.
Kansas leads the overall series with Texas Tech, 42-34, but the Red Raiders have won six of the last 10 matchups with the Jayhawks. Game two of the three-game series is slated for Saturday, March 29, at 2 p.m. CT, with the final contest set for Sunday, March 30, at 12 p.m. CT.
