Clark Honored as Big 12 Women’s Golfer of the Month

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas women's golf senior Lauren Clark was named Big 12 Women's Golfer of the Month, the conference office announced Thursday. Clark becomes just the third Jayhawk to receive the honor.
Clark joins Yupaporn Kawinpakorn (2012-2015), a two-time recipient of the award, and current teammate Jordan Rothman, who earned the honor last season. Clark's award comes after two individual championships, a 54-hole individual program record and a fifth-place finish in the spring opener.
"This is so well deserving for Lauren," Kansas head coach Lindsay Kuhle said. "She is playing exceptional golf and is extremely confident with her game. She's playing smart golf and executing when she needs to. Her ball striking has improved from the fall, and putting is as consistent as it's been the last couple of years."
Clark has played a pivotal role in Kansas' success this spring, helping the Jayhawks secure victories in two of their three tournaments while claiming individual titles at the PDI Intercollegiate and Westbrook Invitational. In her hometown of Orlando, she set a new KU 54-hole scoring record with a 15-under 201, finishing five strokes ahead of the PDI Intercollegiate field. She then broke her own record in the following tournament, shooting a 17-under 199 at Westbrook Village Golf Club in Peoria, Arizona, once again winning by five strokes and leading the Jayhawks to a team title.
Clark began the spring with a fifth-place finish at the Match in the Desert at Superstition Mountain Golf Club, carding an even-par 72 in the 18-hole event. This marks the first Big 12 Golfer of the Month honor of her career.
Clark has been instrumental in guiding the Jayhawks to a program-record five tournament victories this season, with Kansas currently ranked No. 23 nationally.
This month, Clark posted a 66.7 stroke average over six rounds, finishing under par in each one. Clark and the Jayhawks will continue their spring season in La Quinta, California, competing in the Yale Invitational West at the PGA West – Greg Norman Course on March 10-11.
