LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas returns home to Arrocha Ballpark for a three-game series against No.13 Arizona, set for April 11-13. The series opener is scheduled for Friday, April 11, with the first pitch at 5 p.m. CT.
"We're excited to be back home this weekend and to host Arizona on our field," said head coach
Jennifer McFalls. "This is a big weekend for us as we reach the halfway point of conference play. Arizona is playing well, but we've had a solid few days of practice at home, and our team is ready to compete in front of our home crowd!"Â
The Jayhawks are looking to bounce back after a competitive three-game series against Arizona State. Despite a 6-1 loss in the first game, Kansas bounced back in game two, with sophomore Anna Soles providing a spark by blasting a three-run homer in the fifth inning. Unfortunately, the Jayhawks fell short in the series finale, 4-3, despite two late-game home runs. Arizona State ultimately claimed the series 2-1.
Over the weekend, Kansas hit four home runs, with each one coming from a different player: Anna Soles, September Flanagan, Natalie Marshall, and Aynslee Linduff. This marked the first home run of their Kansas Softball careers for both Soles and Marshall.
At the plate, Kansas continues to see strong individual performances from the junior class. Presley Limbaugh is leading the charge with a .373 batting average, 41 hits, eight doubles, and two triples. Hailey Cripe has also been a standout, leading the team in both home runs (6) and RBIs (25) while batting .362.Â
In the circle, freshman Kaelee Washington has made an immediate impact for the Jayhawks. She leads the pitching staff with nine starts, 18 appearances, and 34 strikeouts. Kansas' veteran pitcher seniors Olivia Bruno (1.79 ERA) and Katie Brooks, along with junior Lizzy Ludwig, have also been key contributors. Bruno boasts the lowest ERA on the team, while Ludwig leads the staff with three complete games. Brooks and Ludwig have both appeared in 15 games this season.
The Jayhawks will also host two Senior Day celebrations over the weekend, recognizing seniors Natalie Marshall and Katie Brooks.Â
