Kansas (27-10) will look to get back on track this week after a four-game skid that comes on the heels of a season-long nine-game winning streak. Despite a tough weekend against newly ranked No. 15 TCU, Kansas did break its single-season home run program record.
Â
The Jayhawks hit their 76th home run of the season on Sunday at TCU.
Derek Cerda led off the game with a homer on the second pitch. Kansas currently leads the Big 12 and is sixth in the nation with 76 home runs this season. KU has hit a home run in 14 of the last 15 games.
Â
Kansas is ranked in the top five in the Big 12 and in the top 25 nationally in multiple statistical categories. The Jayhawks are first in the league in walks (fifth nationally), home runs (sixth nationally), slugging percentage (11th nationally), runs (13th nationally) and total bases (707). With 8.8 runs per game, the Jayhawks rank 25th in the country.
Â
Wichita State (12-23) enters Tuesday's game after being swept this past weekend by UTSA. The Shockers have struggled on the road this season with a 4-14 record away from Eck Stadium. This season, Wichita State is hitting .263 as a team and the pitching staff has posted a 6.36 ERA. Josh Livington leads the team offensively with nine home runs and 28 RBIs.
