
Jayhawk Relay Teams Headline Day Two of Kansas Relays

LAWRENCE, KAN. – The Kansas Track and Field team competed in Day Two of the Kansas Relays, the relay teams led the way for Kansas.
"I was excited for the team today. We seemed more competitive than in our previous meets. We had several winners and numerous qualifiers. Our athletes appreciated competing in front of nearly 5000 fans. We look forward to the meet tomorrow and hope our fans will appreciate our efforts," Kansas Head Coach Stanley Redwine said.
The Women's 4x800m Relay team kicked off the day of success from the Kansas relay teams, taking first with a time of 8:56.75, with the relay being run by Bethany Druse, Marisa January, 800m School Record Holder Aaliyah Moore, and anchored by Emmculate Jemutai. The Women's DMR team kept the winning streak going for the Jayhawks as the event was started by Sweden native Ebba Cronholm, Grace Cramblett in the 800m portion of the relay, Ethel Assimah, and was anchored in the mile by Kenadi Krueger with the team running a time of 11:49.37.
The Men's DMR team took first as they ran a time of 10:08.70 with TJ Robinson starting the event off with the 1200m, Nathan Thengvall in the 400m, Garrett Wilmes in the 800m, and Samuel Trumble anchoring with the mile. The Men's 4x800m Relays team continued the same success as the Men's DMR team they also took first in their respective event, Ryo Higuchi kicking off the event, then handing off to Tanner Talley, who then handed the baton to Freshman Parker Walion, then lastly handing off to his older brother Quenton Walion who finished off the win for the Jayhawks running a time of 7:33.29.
Erica Ellis won the Women's Pole Vault with a PR of 4.49m(14-8.75 ft.), also Gabby Hoke PR'd with a mark of 4.39m(14-4.75 ft.) while taking second in the event. Mason Meinershagen finished 3rd, completing a Jayhawk sweep in the Women's Pole Vault.
Also, today, multiple Jayhawks either PR'd or took first in their respective events. Sidney Smith, Aleksandra Wolczak (PR with a time of 59.77), and Madison Campbell (PR with a time of 1:00.37) all won their heats in the Women's 400m Hurdles. Jack Markstrom won his heat in the Men's 400m Hurdles and PR'd with a time of 53.10. Grant Lockwood, Jackson Belding, and Josiah Parris all won their heats in the Men's 400m and qualified for finals. Payton Kasper and Ayden Christiansen both had PRs today. Kasper hit a height of 15.46 in the Pole Vault, and Christiansen ran a 10.82 in the Men's 100m.
Both Madeleine Fey and Addie Cline finished women's shot put, Fey secured second place while Cline took fourth. Charli Foreman placed fourth in the Women's Triple Jump and PR'd with 11.91m (39-1 ft.).
