Kansas to Take on John Jacobs Invite in Norman

NORMAN, Okla. - The Kansas Track & Field team will travel to compete in the John Jacobs Invite Thursday, April 3rd. The Jayhawks will compete against Kansas State, Oklahoma, Tulsa, UT Arlington & Oral Roberts.
The Jayhawks are sending 66 athletes including 37 Women & 29 Men to Norman to compete in the meet Thursday. The event will kick off with the Women's Discus starting at 11 AM where four Jayhawks will compete to open the meet. The running events start at 1:30 PM with the Men's 4x100m relay where Kansas will have a relay team competing.Â
Some notable Jayhawks competing tomorrow afternoon include Junior Sofia Sluchaninova who is coming off a win at the Battle on the Bayou with a throw of 55.65m and is currently ranked 8th in the country & 4th in the Big 12 in the Discus. Gabby Hoke will compete in the Women's Pole Vault, she also took home a third-place finish last week at the Battle on the Bayou with a mark of 4.25m. Four other Jayhawks will compete in the same event as they currently rank as the second best team in the nation in as a Women's Pole Vault.
Freshman Bryce Barkdull will compete in the Men's Pole Vault, where last week at the Battle on the Bayou, he took third by clearing a height of 5.40m, Kansas currently ranks as the third best Men's Pole Vault team in the country. Men's Pole Vault will begin at 1 PM. Senior Bryce Foster will be competing in the Men's Shot Put which will start around 3 PM.
Kansas also has athletes at three other meets around the country starting in Tucson, Ariz. where they have four athletes competing in the Jim Click Shootout all in the Decathlon, including senior Alexander Jung. The distance team will be out in California competing in Palo Alto at the Stanford Relays and in San Fransisco at the Mike Fanelli Track Classic.Â
