LAWRENCE, Kan. - The Kansas Track & Field team is set to open its 2025-26 indoor season Wednesday by hosting its Intrasquad Meet at
Anschutz Sports Pavilion. The Jayhawks will be split into two teams, the Blue team and the Crimson team and will compete against each other with events beginning at 12 p.m. CT.
Kansas assistant middle distance and distance coach Honour Finley will serve as the Crimson team's head coach, while assistant jumps coach Brian Wellman will serve as the Blue team's head coach.
"I think it will be a great time, for sure," Finley said when asked about the meet. "Everybody has been working really hard and it is always fun to see where you are at and where your training has gotten you."
The meet will kick off with the men's and women's 60 meter hurdles, with two rounds of each. Next up will be the women's pole vault at 12:30 p.m., followed by the 500 meter dash for the men at 1 p.m. with the women's race directly after.
The two teams will then compete in the 60 meter dash before running in the 700 meter run at 1:30 p.m. The men's pole vault is set to begin at 2:30 p.m.
Kansas men's high jumpers will compete against each other at 4 p.m. Three events will then begin simultaneously at 4:30 p.m. with the men's mile, the women's long jump and the combined men's and women's weight throw and shot put.
Following the conclusion of the women's long jump, the athletes will then compete in the long jump. Both the men and women throwers will be competing against each other, each using different throwing weights in the weight throw and shot put, but scoring distance-wise against each other.
After the conclusion of the field events, every athlete, no matter their primary sport, will participate in a teamwide 4x200 meter relay.
"I'm excited to see everybody have fun and be competitive for real," Finley said. "I think it's going to be good to not only see people be competitive but be able to compete against their teammates, it's going to be a great test."
