TUCSON, ARIZ. -Â The Kansas Track & Field team will wrap up its regular season in Tucson, Arizona, at the Desert Heat Classic this Saturday, May 3rd, 2025.Â
The Desert Heat Classic will serve as the final regular-season event for Kansas before heading into the Big 12 Championships, which is hosted at Rock Chalk Park in Lawrence. Heading into the final event of the regular season, 13 Jayhawks rank inside the top five of the Big 12 in their respective events.Â
The event will kick off on Saturday with field events starting at 12 PM CT, and running events will start at 6:30 PM CT.Â
The Jayhawks are led by their Women's Pole Vault team, who are currently ranked as the best Women's Pole Vault in the country for that event according to USTFCCCA. The team is led by
Mason Meinershagen and
Erica Ellis, who are both tied for the Outdoor School Record for the event at 4.50m.Â
Senior
Dimitrios Pavlidis is currently ranked 4th in the country & 1st in the Big 12Â in the Men's Discus. The Greek International is looking to continue his success this outdoor season, where he has won two meets and set a new Greek National record.Â
Junior Sonya Sluchaninova, who set a new PR in the Women's Discus 60.21m this past weekend, also she is ranked 7th in her home country of Russia for the event as well.Â
Junior
Tanner Talley will be running in the 1500m Saturday, the Missouri native ran a PR time of 3:41.03 at the Kansas Relays, he is 9th ranked runner in the Big 12 for that event.Â
