LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas baseball earned the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Team Academic Excellence Award for the 2024-25 academic year, the organization announced Wednesday.

Kansas was one of nine Big 12 schools (Baylor, UCF, Cincinnati, Houston, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, Utah, West Virginia) to receive the award. There were 108 Division I institutions recognized.

To earn the award, teams had to post a GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale for the entire 2024-25 academic year. KU posted a 3.37 cumulative GPA for the academic year.

Kansas has received the award in five consecutive years, six times in the last seven years and seven times in program history.

ABCA has a long tradition of recognizing the achievements of baseball coaches and student-athletes. The ABCA/Rawlings All-America Teams are the nation's oldest, founded in 1949, and the ABCA's awards program also includes the ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Awards, the ABCA/ATEC Regional & National Coaches of the Year and several other major awards such as the ABCA Hall of Fame and the Dave Keilitz Ethics in Coaching Award.
