LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas women's volleyball will open its 2025 season with an alumni match at 1 p.m. CT on Aug. 9 at Horejsi Family Volleyball Arena. The event will feature a showdown between former Kansas standouts and the current 2025 roster.
The Jayhawks will welcome back several notable recent players, including London Davis, Caroline Bien, Toyosi Onabanjo and Bryn McGehe. All four competed under Ray Bechard, who retired following the 2024 season as the winningest coach in Kansas volleyball history. Onabanjo currently plays professionally for the Omaha Supernovas.
Kansas will also celebrate its historic 2015 Final Four run by welcoming back several key members of that team. Among those returning are Kelsie Payne, Tori (Miller) Hohlios, Addi (Barry) McLaughlin, Maggie (Anderson) Bowen, Cassie (Wait) Valentine and Anna Church. All six will return to compete on their former home court.
The 2015 squad made program history by advancing to the NCAA Championship semifinals for the first time, highlighted by a five-set upset over No. 1-seeded USC. Payne was one of three Jayhawks named to the San Diego Regional All-Tournament Team during the run.
Approximately 20 alumni are expected to be in attendance and compete against the 2025 team, which returns 13 players, welcomes four freshmen, and adds a transfer.
This marks Kansas' first alumni match since 2014, bringing a special reunion of Jayhawk greats back to Horejsi. The event is free and open to the public.
