LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas women's golf senior
Amy DeKock has earned the 2025-26 Marlene Mawson Exemplary Woman Student-Athlete Award, it was announced Wednesday on National Girls and Women in Sports Day. The award recognizes DeKock for her exemplary success on and off the course during her collegiate career.

The award is presented each year by Kansas Athletics to one senior female student-athlete who plays an integral role on her respective team and demonstrates strong character and leadership qualities, while also being a strong competitor. DeKock will be recognized as the award winner during the Kansas women's basketball game on Wednesday night.

"It's fitting that in correlation with National Girls and Women in Sports Day, Amy is being recognized and celebrated for her determination, grace, and commitment as a Jayhawk," said

DeKock, a senior from Palm Desert, California, is majoring in Finance with a 3.65 GPA. DeKock is a two-time Academic All-Big 12 First Team selection, was named as a WGCA All-American All-Scholar Team, was named CSC Academic At-Large All-District in 2025 and has been a member of the KU Honor Roll from 2022-25.

On the course, DeKock led the Jayhawks to their first NCAA Regional Title in program history in 2025 and has helped KU to win eight team tournaments and has led the Jayhawks to the NCAA Tournament in three straight seasons. DeKock has the third lowest career scoring average in program history at 73.28 and has the fourth lowest single season scoring average at 72.6, set during the 2023-24 season.

Lindsay Kuhle said. "Through her leadership, she strengthens our culture and helps create an environment where team members work hard, accept coaching, and have a passion for KU to reach our goals and expectations every year. Amy leads with accountability, empathy, and communication, and with a strong sense of gratitude for the teammates who came before her, responsibility for those beside her, and a desire to leave the program better than she found it."

Off the course, DeKock has been a leader in the community, volunteering for the Salvation Army, Ballard Community Center, Lawrence Country Club Golf Clinic and more. DeKock is also involved with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) and Called to Greatness, while also participating in a summer internship at Lockton Companies in 2025.

The Marlene Mawson Exemplary Woman Student-Athlete Award has been presented each year since the 2007-08 academic year. DeKock becomes the second representative from Kansas women's golf to win the award and the first since 2015-16 when Yupaporn Kawinpakorn earned the honor.
Dr. Marlene Mawson was a professor and administrator at the University of Kansas for 22 years. She was appointed to a full-time physical education faculty position in 1968, with the added responsibility of initiating an intercollegiate women's sports program. In addition to directing the program, Mawson coached softball, volleyball, women's basketball, and field hockey during her first three years at KU.Â
