"We've seen a lot of positives from this group and gained important experience against strong competition," head coach Jennifer McFalls said. "Our focus now is putting together complete games and bringing great energy into this midweek opportunity."
The Jayhawks opened the 2026 season in dominant fashion, earning back-to-back run-rule victories over Bethune-Cookman and Illinois State while scoring 25 runs across the two games. Kansas showcased power throughout the lineup with multiple extra-base hits and home runs, while the pitching staff set the tone early in the circle to start the year 2–0.
Kansas closed the USF-Rawlings Invitational against a challenging slate, facing South Florida, Michigan and Florida. The Jayhawks built early leads against both USF and Michigan and continued to see strong performances in the circle, highlighted by Chloe Barber's eight-strikeout outing against the Wolverines and a solid start from Kaelee Washington against South Florida. The weekend provided valuable early-season experience against high-level competition.
Kansas will look to return to the win column against FGCU as the Jayhawks continue their early-season road stretch.
