Â
The three home runs by Osoria matched the school record and made him the fifth Jayhawk to ever hit three home runs in a game, including the first since Justin Headley in 1997.
Â
Kansas hit a season-high six home runs in the game, scored a season-high 18 runs and had a season-high 18 hits. In addition to Osoria, Josh Dykhoff, Augusto Mungarrieta and Cade Baldridge homered in the game.
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Texas Tech (13-6, 2-1 Big 12) got out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning. A run scored on a throwing error and fielder's choice.
• Kansas (11-8, 1-2 Big 12) responded with three runs in the second inning. Cade Baldridge had an RBI groundout and then Dykhoff and Osoria hit back-to-back solo home runs. That gave Kansas a 3-2 edge.
• The Red Raiders tied the game in the bottom of the third on a wild pitch.
• The Jayhawks grabbed the lead again in the top of the fourth with three more runs. Osoria hit his second of the day, a two-run shot, and Dylan Schlotterback had an RBI double.
• Texas Tech hit a two-run homer of its own in the bottom of the fourth off the bat of Robin Villeneuve. That made it a 6-5 game at the end of the fourth.
• In the fifth inning, Osoria entered the history books. He launched his third home run of the game in the fifth to extend the Kansas lead to 8-5.
• An RBI double by Texas Tech in the bottom of the fifth made it 8-6.
• The Jayhawks brought in three more runs in the top of the sixth. Mungarrieta crushed a two-run homer to center field and Dykhoff had an RBI groundout. That stretched it to an 11-6 Jayhawks lead.
• Kansas scored two more in the seventh. Jordan Bach had an RBI double and Brady Ballinger hit an RBI single to give the Jayhawks a 13-6 advantage.
• KU added five additional runs in the eighth inning. Baldridge blasted a solo home run to leadoff the inning and drew a bases loaded walk later in the inning to score another run. Schlotterback had a sacrifice fly to bring home a run. Bach had an RBI single to drive in another run and eventually scored on a fielding error. The five runs gave Kansas an 18-6 lead midway through the eighth.
• Texas Tech scored one run in the bottom of the eighth, but it was not enough to avoid the run rule.

QUOTABLES & NOTABLES
"I loved the offense yesterday and they doubled down on it today. I thought it was awesome how consistent we were in our approach to each pitch. I didn't think we gave a single pitch away today. We had some times early in the game too where we stranded a few guys and if we just move the ball we break it open even more. I'm proud of how the guys bounced back. It takes a really mature team to lose one the way we did last night and bounce back and play as confidently as we did today." – Head Coach Dan Fitzgerald
Â
"It feels really nice to get it going today. The last couple of weeks I've been hitting the ball pretty hard and nothing has been falling. I've just been coming out here every day sticking with the process and trusting what I got. Today, seeing the ball getting down and going over the fence really felt nice." – Dariel Osoria
