LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas softball will host Utah for a three-game Big 12 series Friday, March 20 through Sunday, March 22 at Arrocha Ballpark. First pitch for Game 1 is scheduled for 5 p.m. CT. Kansas (21-8, 2-1 Big 12) comes into the series riding momentum from recent victories, including a thrilling walk-off win over South Dakota on Wednesday. Senior Campbell Bagshaw delivered the game-winning solo home run in the bottom of the seventh inning, securing a 4-3 victory and keeping Kansas undefeated at home.
"We know we're facing a very talented Utah team this weekend, but our players are confident and ready," head coach Jennifer McFalls said. "Our goal is to execute at the plate and on the mound, play aggressive defense, and use our home-field advantage to compete for every game. This is a big test for our team, and we're excited for the challenge."
The Jayhawks are also coming off a record-setting weekend in Houston, where Kansas claimed its first Big 12 series win of the season, 2-1. Kansas totaled 13 home runs across three games, averaging more than four per contest, highlighted by a grand slam from Aynslee Linduff in the series clincher. Bagshaw and Hailey Cripe also delivered key home runs, while Lila Partridge earned the win in the series-deciding game with six strong innings.
Senior Presley Limbaugh stole her 10th base of the season, ranking fifth in the Big 12, while freshman Ella Boyer extended her career home run total to 11, ranking third in the conference and earning Big 12 Freshman of the Week honors for a second consecutive week. Kansas also broke multiple program records over the weekend, including seven home runs in a single game, surpassing the previous mark of six set against Utah State on March 6. Four of those home runs came in a single inning, a feat the program last accomplished in 2003. KU also recorded its 11th run-rule victory of the season, just two shy of the program record of 13.
Kansas will face a tough challenge in Utah (23-6, 8-0 Big 12), the current No. 1 team in the Big 12 and undefeated on the road. Last season, Kansas dropped the series, going 1-2.. The Jayhawks will look to bounce back, protect their undefeated home record, and hand Utah its first road loss of the season.
With offensive firepower, strong pitching, and confidence from recent victories, Kansas will aim to compete for a series win and continue building momentum in Big 12 play.
