LAWRENCE, Kan. - The Kansas track & field team is scheduled for three meets this weekend from April 3-4. The majority of the team will travel to Baton Rouge, LA. for the Battle on the Bayou.
Kansas will have a split squad this weekend with Jayhawks participating in three meets across the country. A handful of Kansas runners will travel to California to compete in the Mike Fanelli Track Classic and Stanford Invitational, while most of the athletes will compete in the Battle on the Bayou hosted by LSU.Â
"At all the meets this weekend, it will be a great opportunity to go up against some high level competition and hopefully achieve some top marks to qualify for regionals," Kansas head coach Stanley Redwine said. "The high quality of the meets will be a great benefit to us, as the expectation as a program is that we should be competing at that elite level. It'll hopefully push us to compete at our best and achieve some of those regional marks."
In USTFCCCA's first checkpoint rankings, the men's team was ranked 62nd in the country and seventh in the Big 12, while the women's team was ranked 36th in the country and ninth in the Big 12.
